Manual QLD calculator
Maximum Likelihood Estimation (MLE) used with limiting dilutions to estimate the number of organisms in a given volume.
This implementation is written by Amogh Jalihal,

All calculations are made locally in web.
Experiment Shape
Enter the dilution and replicate counts once, then click or drag across cells to mark growth. Shift-drag or right-drag clears cells back to negative.

Relative fit function
The value "MLE" is therefore the number of organisms pipetted into the first well, and diluted with this dilution factor across a series.
"# of dilutions" is the amount of grown wells in your sample, and "# of replicates" is the amount of replicate dilution series you used.
The optimal experiment is 4 replicate dilution series, where you have done 3 experimental replicates, or in other words, you have diluted 1 treatment 12 times.
